Privacy policy.
This policy describes how Page Panther collects, uses, stores and protects personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.
1. Who we are
Page Panther (https://www.pagepanther.co.za) is a search-led studio based in Fourways, Johannesburg, South Africa. The Information Officer is the studio principal and can be contacted at grow@pagepanther.co.za.
2. What information we collect
We collect personal information that you give us directly:
- Contact form submissions — your name, email, phone, company and the message body.
- Newsletter or resource subscriptions — your email address.
- Engagement correspondence during active client work.
We automatically collect a small amount of technical information when you browse the site:
- Page requests, browser type, device class and approximate location from your IP address.
- Aggregated analytics about how visitors move through the site, used to improve content.
3. Why we collect it
We process personal information for the following purposes:
- To respond to enquiries you have sent us.
- To deliver and improve our services where you are an active client or supplier.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To send you a newsletter or resource only where you have opted in, and to honour every unsubscribe.
4. Sharing and processing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the parties needed to operate the studio:
- Hosting, email and analytics providers on whose infrastructure the studio runs.
- Accountant and legal advisers under confidentiality.
- Authorities where we are legally required to do so.
When personal information crosses South African borders we rely on the receiving party's compliance with POPIA's cross-border transfer rules.
5. Cookies and analytics
The site uses a small number of cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep the contact form working. The analytics tools below also run on every page so we can measure traffic and improve the site. We rely on the lawful basis of legitimate interest under POPIA for this processing — the data is aggregate and does not identify you as an individual.
5.1 Processors we use for analytics
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd, servers in the EU/US). Measures aggregate page views, scroll depth and traffic sources.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation, servers in the US). Records anonymised session replays and heatmaps so we can see where visitors get stuck.
- Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights (Vercel Inc., servers in the US). Aggregates page views and Core Web Vitals server-side and does not set cookies.
5.2 How long we keep this data
GA4 retains identifiable data for 2 months, then aggregates. Clarity retains session recordings for 30 days. Vercel retains aggregate counts for 30 days.
5.3 How to opt out
You can stop analytics being sent from your browser by any of: turning on your browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting; installing a content blocker such as uBlock Origin; or using your browser's privacy settings to block third-party cookies. You can also write to grow@pagepanther.co.za and we will walk you through other options.
6. Retention
We keep enquiry submissions for up to 24 months, engagement records for the duration required by tax law (currently 5 years from the end of the financial year), and aggregated analytics for as long as it remains useful and anonymous.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it, subject to our legal record-keeping duties.
- Object to processing that is not justified by our legitimate interests.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these rights, write to grow@pagepanther.co.za. We will respond within the timeframes set out in POPIA.
8. Security
We protect personal information using a combination of access controls, encryption in transit, and the minimum amount of data needed to do the job. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your rights we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy if our processing changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
